Dandelions

Isn't that the sweetest little printable ever on Dandelion chains? Click on it or here, I have it linked to PDF at vinsweb.org, click it, print it out and create some dandelion chains, I know that's what we'll be doing tomorrow!

Anyway, today we walked outside and sprawled out on the grass and examined dandelions. The little ones were in awe that the yellow dandelion closes up and when it reopens it's the white fluffy dandelion. Thankfully one of the plants fully cooperated and had one of each dandelion on it!

Here's another pdf from vinsweb.org on the dandelion and of course we used Anna Botsford Comstock's Handbook of a Nature Study. Because what homeschool would be complete with out it!

Here's a notebooking page I created for the kids to use. Hope if works for you if you use it.
(By the way, I found the link to the dandelion chains here at In the Sparrow's Nest)

I snagged that photo from another one of my posts, isn't it great? it's a dandelion in our backyard.

Hey Sheri I'm looking at using FIAR next year for the boys. Jack will be in Kindergarten and Jacob will be 2nd grade. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I've been really drawn to it, mostly through you, but it seems like it'd fit both boys, would help me to not have 2 different things going on. Chad deploys next week for 15 months, so I want to make life as "easy" (HA!!) as I can while still keeping my sanity. Would you email me?

Thanks! :)

Ah, so they're not weeds, they're art supplies! I like it...

That is so neat!

I love dandelions (my husband doesn't like them so much, he always wanted to spray them at our old house.)

I use them for my rabbits and goats. It's really good for them (also the milk from the stem is good for warts.. just a little side note that I have been told..lol..)

Years ago I used to think they were nothing but weeds UNTIL I talked with my sister-in-law. She told me that a weed is only a missed placed flower. I just loved that.

The same sister-in-law makes a wine out of them.

Great blog you have. I am glad I had time to read it today.
